Mega Orange Carpeted Dumb@$$

The popularity of Mega churches is astounding. It is as if Christians are corporately saying we prefer to belong in a place where we cannot reasonably be held accountable by the leadership, or we prefer to sit in our small churches and fade into oblivion. I have attended many different churches and it has become clear that most Christians are not.

They are not? What does that mean? How can someone simple not be? Of course this seems completely reasonable to Shakespeare who posed this very question in Hamlet, "To be or not to be, that is the question." I would wager that anyone capable of reading this blog is familiar on some level with that quote.

How does it apply to the church? It seems that is the real question? It also seems as though this posit has been answered a resounding "not." We will not bother loving one another. We will not bother loving our neighbor. We will not bother loving our enemy. We will not even bother loving God.

Consider that these are all commands, not suggestions, that Jesus gave. These are not legalistic humdrum from the book of Leviticus, well not only. The originator of salvation instructed these disciplines that have been cast off. How odd that the church would take fine gold to the dung heap and exchange it for the contents of the pile.

There are intense battles over legalism, politics, theology, and the color of the carpet raging across this land but little or no concern for these simple conventions set forth by the Master. Why bother with love when Brother Dingus wants orange carpet like they had when he got saved? This God fella needs to get His priorities straight. Who cares about people going to hell when Sister Dumb@$$ (Pronounced Dumb @$$ not Dumas like you might think) was seen going into the pastor's office?

What up with that?
